Nicholas Frey practices primarily in the defense of insurance bad faith cases, and he also handles insurance defense and a broad variety of appellate matters, and has handled or helped handle the following representative reported cases: Davis v. Eighth Judicial Dist. ex rel. County of Clark , 629 P.2d 1209, appeal dismissed and cert. denied 454 U.S. 1049 and 454 U.S. 1055; Orbit Stations, Inc. v. Curtis, 678 P.2d 1153; Maxit Financial Corp. v. Carson Realty, Inc., 692 P.2d 1294; Cordova v. Harrah’s Reno, 707 F. Supp. 443; Griffith v. Kremp and Lane, 810 P.2d 331; Cathcart v. Robison, Lyle, Belaustegui & Robb, 795 P.2d 986. Mr. Frey currently serves as a Nevada Supreme Court Settlement Judge, belonged to the American Inns of Court, Bruce R. Thompson Chapter from 1998 to 1996, is a past president of Washoe Legal Services and has served on different state bar committees. Mr. Frey applied to and was admitted to the Nevada Bar in 1980. In that same year, he was admitted to the U. S. District Court for the District of Nevada. In 1980, he was admitted to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and was later also admitted to the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. In 1988, he was admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court. He received a B.A. in English from Brigham Young University in 1976, and graduated from the University Honors Program with “Distinguished Honors.” He received his J. D. degree from the University of Utah, College of Law in 1979. Mr. Frey is a member of the Washoe County and Nevada State Bar Associations, as well as the Associations of Defense Counsel of Northern Nevada and Northern California. He currently is serving as the Nevada state representative of the Defense Research Institute. |
